Internet Explorer 8, the finally protected navigator of Microsoft
admin on 03 27, 2009
Microsoft benefited from its Mix09 conference of Las Vegas to announce the availability of Internet Explorer 8, after more than 2 years of development. The navigator of Microsoft is available (1) today in 25 languages; of which French. Regularly vilified in the past for its vulnerabilities, IE8 sees its reinforced security measures.
In addition to the anti-phishing system, the navigator integrates an anti filter attacks XSS (cross-country race site scripting) which makes it possible to introduce malevolent code into a healthy page. The filter is reinforced by a system of prevention of Clickjacking, a derivative of the XSS exploited on the tags (key words) of the pages. Lastly, IE8 introduces In Private, an option of navigation which makes it possible to select the sites and to control the traces that the Net surfer leaves with the wire of his navigation.
If the innovations aim at simplifying the interaction which the user will exert on his navigation, Microsoft does not neglect the needs for the companies. IE8 Internet Explorer Administration Kit 8 will make it possible the companies to configure the navigator according to the parameters of the Intranet and the applications in line which the company exploits. The developers will be able to thus distribute a homogeneous navigator to all the work stations. He will rest in particular on it “Developer Tools”, an editor of code which will optimize their work. A means of keeping a certain level of compatibility with the previous versions of the navigator.
With IE8, Microsoft exploits its credibility the Web. If Internet Explorer remains the navigator more used fabric (with more than 67 % in February 2009 according to Net Applications), its market shares erode regularly with the profit of Mozilla Firefox (21,7 %) and Apple Safari (8 %) while Chrome seems to stagnate around 1 %. Will IE8 reverse the tendency?
